Price Per Unit

If you're selling products that are available in different Units/measurements, you may want to break down your product prices by Units. For example, you are required to show how much one gram of your coffee pack costs. Additionally, it can be displayed how many Units one product includes. It can be set up with the help of Price Per Unit and Units in a product that will be shown on the product page.

Choose any numbers and names, for example, by setting the titles"Grams in one pack", "Price per gram",etc. These lines areproduct attributes of General type (Price per Unit fields). So first you should configure these attributes and then specify their values for each product. Further instructions are below.

Price per unit setup includes three steps:

  1. Enabling Price per unit in your store.
  2. Naming Price per unit fields.
  3. Specifying Price per unit values for products.

Enabling Price per Unit

To enable Price per Unit feature:

1. From Settings → General pageCart & Checkout tab.

Naming Price per Unit fields

To name Price per unit fields:

  1. Go to Settings → Product Types.
  2. From the list on the left, select your product type (by default, it’s “General”).
  3. Enter the name you want to use into the Units in product field (e.g., “Liters in the bottle”).
  4. Enter the name you want to use into the Price per unit field (e.g., “Price per liter”):

Specifying Price Per Unit Values for Products

After you enable Price per unit in your store and name Price per unit fields, you can specify the Price per unit and Units in product values for your products.

To specify Price per unit values for a product:

  1. Go to Catalog → Products.
  2. Choose a product or create a new one.
  3. Go to the Attributes tab.
  4. In the Units in product attribute field, enter in the number of units your product has.
  5. In the Price per unit attribute field, enter the product's price per unit.
  6. Save the changes.
