Option Types
- Drop-down list allows the selection of one value from multiple choices. We suggest drop-down lists for a compact view of many choices.
- Radio Buttons allow selecting one value from multiple choices like product color.
- Size allows selecting one option from multiple size choices.
- Checkboxes allow the selection of several options at once. For example, pizza toppings.
Use Input Fields to ask customers to add text, files or pick a date on the product page.
Available Input Field Types
- Text Field and Text Area are input text fields where your customers can type any text for a product. It is often used to offer personalization, engraving, custom printing, or embroidery for products. Compared to text fields, text areas can contain multiple lines.
- Date Picker is a popup calendar to select a date for a product or service.
- File Uploader allows customers to attach files to the product or service they order. This feature is not available on every Ecommerce tier plan. If the feature is not available for your plan, you will see the corresponding notification.
To create an Input Field for a product:
- Go to Catalog → Products.
- Open the product page you want to edit or create a new one.
- Go to the Options tab.
- Scroll down and click Add Input Field.
- Add the name of the input field (e.g., "Gift message").
- From the Input field type dropdown, select your option. For example, if you want your customer to add a long gift message with several paragraphs, click Text Area:
7. (optional) Tick Required field if you want customers to be required to provide input. This way, a customer cannot add a product to the cart without filling out the field.
8. Save the changes.
Preselected Default Values
When creating a drop-down list, radio button, and size option types, you can set default option values (for example, this pizza’s most popular size) that will be pre-selected for faster customer checkout. If a shopper wants to order a product with other options (like other sizes), they need to choose them on the product page instead of the default options.
To select a default option value:
- Go to Catalog → Products.
- Open the product you want to edit.
- Go to the Options tab and click on an option.
- Scroll down and click on the Value selected automatically drop-down.
- Select your option:
Setting Different Prices for Options
With price modifiers, you can increase or decrease the base product price depending on options. For example, a pizza with basic ingredients costs $11.95, and each additional pizza topping costs $0.85. If a customer selects one topping, they will see the updated price ($12.80) on the product page, and if they select two toppings, the price will be $13.65.
Note:Price modifier is not the price of the product option. It's the value that isadded to(orsubtracted from) the price of the base product that you enter in thePricing field.
To add price modifiers:
- From Store management, go to Catalog → Products.
- Open the product you want to edit.
- Go to the Options tab and click on an option.
- Hover over the option value and click Add price modifier:
5. Select whether the modification adjusts the price in absolute amount or as a percentage:
6. Set the amount. You can enter positive or negative values.
7. Save the changes.
